Customize iPhone Home Screen

You may look at your iPhone home screen more than any other single screen, so it should be set up exactly the way you want it. Here are some options for customizing your iPhone home screen.

Customize iPhone Lock Screen

Just like you can customize your home screen, you can customize the iPhone lock screen, too. This way, you have control over the first thing you see every time you pick up your phone. Find the wallpaper settings by going to Settings -> Wallpaper -> Choose a New Wallpaper. Go to Settings -> Wallpaper -> Choose a New Wallpaper -> pick Dynamic or Live.

Customize iPhone Ringtones & Text Tones

The ringtones and text tones your iPhone uses to get your attention don’t have to be the same as everyone else’s. You can make all kinds of changes, including changing tones so you know who’s calling or texting without even looking at your phone. Go to Settings -> Face ID (or Touch ID) & Passcode -> Change Passcode and following the instructions.

Customize iPhone Notifications

Your iPhone helpfully notifies you know when you have calls, texts, emails, and other pieces of information that might interest you. But all those notifications can be annoying. Customize how you get notifications with these tips. Do that by going to Settings -> Sounds (Sounds & Haptics on some models) -> Ringtone. Do this by going to Phone -> Contacts -> tapping the person whose ringtone you want to change -> Edit -> Ringtone. Go to Phone -> Contacts -> tap the person -> Edit -> Add Photo.

iPhone Customizations That Make Things Easier to See

It’s not always easy to read text or see onscreen items on your iPhone, but these customizations make things much easier to see. Find the notification options in Settings -> Notifications -> tap the app you want to control -> choose Alerts, Banner Style, Sounds, and more. Control this on a per-app basis by going to Settings -> Notifications -> the app you want to control -> Notification Grouping. Set this up in Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Hearing -> move the LED Flash for Alerts slider to on/green. Set this up in Settings -> Notifications -> Show Previews -> When Unlocked.

Other iPhone Customization Options

Here’s a collection of some of our other favorite ways to customize our iPhones. To use this option, go to Settings -> Display & Brightness -> View -> Zoomed -> Set. Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Larger Text -> move the Larger Accessibility Size slider to on/green -> adjust the slider below. Go to Settings -> Control Center -> Customize Controls. Get a new keyboard at the App Store, then go to Settings -> General -> Keyboard -> Keyboards. Go to Settings -> Siri & Search -> Siri Voice -> Male. You can also pick different accents, if you’d like. Go to Settings -> Safari -> Search Engine and making a new selection.
