How Long Does It Take for the Meta (Oculus) Quest and Quest 2 to Charge?

Both the Quest and Quest 2’s batteries have about the same capacity: around 3,640 mAh. If you use the included cables, then they should take about the same amount of time to charge; according to the manufacturer, that time is between 2 and 2.5 hours from empty to full. If you’re using the Elite Strap with a battery with your Quest 2, which lets you use it longer before plugging it in, the extra storage will add some time to that figure. But since your Quest 2 will use up the external battery before drawing from the internal one, you could power the extra one up separately partway through your session and still get the total time from your built-in power source. You can also keep using the Oculus Quest or Quest 2 while they’re charging, but you may not have the same freedom of movement while they’re connected.

When to Charge Your Meta (Oculus) Quest and Quest 2

Both Quests include a few ways to check their battery levels. The easiest way is inside the user interface: At the bottom of the home menu, you’ll see icons showing how much power both the headset and the controllers have. This information is in the lower-left corner, and each dot under an icon represents a 25% charge. Another way to tell if your headset needs charging is by looking at the indicator light on the right side of the device, although it will only offer this information once you plug it in for charging. If the light is red, the battery is low (under 10% remaining). If it’s orange, it’s charging and has more than 10% of its capacity. Finally, a green light means that the headset has a full charge.
