The new Buds are available for preorder with a June 17 release, and come in olive green or white. While the Pixel Buds A-Series offer the same crisp sound quality as the 2020 Pixel Buds model, The Verge reports that they have an overall louder volume level. Google also kept features from the original Pixel Buds like hands-free Google voice commands and the IPX4 rating for water and sweat resistance, as well as a five-hour listening time on a full charge. The new A-Series also are much cheaper than the original Pixel Buds, which cost $179. However, the lower price means you won’t get wireless charging for the Buds case, swipe controls for volume, and wind reduction. Google did tweak the design, so the Pixel Buds A-Series are smaller and stay in place better, thanks to the flush-to-ear design, three ear tip sizes, and a stabilizer arc. News of a new pair of Pixel Buds first appeared in March. Then last month, the company tweeted (either accidentally or on purpose) about the new pair, so Thursday’s news was expected. What stands out most about Google’s wireless earbuds compared to its biggest competitors is that Google Pixel Buds can translate conversations in 108 languages, including Finnish, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish, using Google’s Translate App. The translate feature is ideal for people who travel, as well as work situations where you might need to use a different language.
