Knowing a few tricks makes breeding and raising the fish in Fish Tycoon easier and, in some cases, faster.
Get Rid of Sick Fish
If you don’t have a lot of cash, which is common at the beginning of the game, buying medicine for a sick fish isn’t the best course of action. If you can recreate the breed with other fish in the tank, send the sick fish to the trash and make another one.
Buy Common Eggs at the Start
You begin the game with a starter set of eggs to drop into your tank and grow an initial set of fish. You also start with some cash. Use this to purchase some common eggs and drop those into your tank, too. This gives you plenty of fish so you can find a matching pair more easily and start the breeding process.
Early Fish Breeding Tip
Breed fish that look alike. This way, you won’t waste your time breeding fish that die. Breeding some combinations of fish results in babies that don’t thrive. Starting with a pair that’s exactly the same ensures initial breeding success. If you don’t have two matching types of fish, select two that are very similar for a better chance at having the babies survive.
Watch out for Tank Limits
Tanks can hold a maximum of 20 fish. If a pregnant fish has a baby in a tank already at its limit, the baby disappears.
Make the Best First Purchase
Supplies are difficult to obtain starting out. It gets easier after you find a breed that earns you $40 or more for each sale. The first thing you should work on buying is the Fish Environment. It allows you to create more valuable fish, and without it, many baby fish die. You also want to purchase your second tank when you can. This gives you more room to breed more fish and increase your output, thus increasing your income.
Record the Breed Combinations
Take notes to track the types of fish you create when you breed a pair of fish. Keeping track of these combinations makes it easier to discover the magic fish.
