The company announced the expansion on Wednesday, noting that more online purchases have continued to stack up as users have spent more time at home throughout the past year and a half. According to ZDNet, American Express first introduced Digital Receipts in February, noting that the system would provide more information about purchases to help consumers avoid any confusing charges. The idea behind Digital Receipts, according to Ramesh Devaraj, vice president of global merchant processing and policy at American Express, is to provide consumers with a laundry list of information about their purchases. The original announcement says that more than 71% of users stated that Digital Receipts made them less likely to dispute charges and that 75% said it would improve their overall customer experience. Additionally, 78% of surveyed US merchants said that giving customers access to additional information would help improve the customer’s satisfaction.
